So true.
When you play a heal monk, 99% of the time you know the player is dead before they know it
You know what skills they are using, you know their self heal capabilities, you know where they are on the map.
When death is inevitable for them, you just gotta save your energy and keep the smarter ones alive.

I have looked at this thread agian and I beleive that there are those out there that made up a Monk sololey to to farm. When they get invited in groups they think they are special in a sense. That is becuase they only made up a mo/w to farm with as I am seeing more of them around old Ascalon and Beacons. That is all they really want to do is use them for farmimg since the knowlege of the 105/55 build is out this build is useless in normal game play and in Pvp as well just look at the screenshot of the Blue Fiery Dragon sword how a 55 build got up there with dieing is beyond me although there is a party.I have noticed as well the rareity of Monks lately especailly in Fire Island missions and you have end up useing Henchie Monks and ask a Necro to serve as a battery.Yeah I can see where Monk hate is coming from one who wants to play one and not just to use it for farming .It is time that 105/55 build started to slow down.Maybe ppl should put this build in can for now.

Warriors are overpowered in a lot of ways. They are one of the hardest targets to kill and the deadliest class to leave alive. The fact that they can run through many difficult areas by themselves is just a offshot of a much larger porblem. Teams w/o a warrior almost always die to those with. No class impacts a group more, and can't think of a similar situation to the last part, mostly because of the fact that smite damage is extremely conditional, or just plain bad, so making a similar statement would just be as false.
I can do this with other classes too.

In 8 vs 8 monks are still mandatory but decent counters are more easily available on a more flexible 8 vs 8 team. In PVE and 4 on 4 arenas nothing rivals a monk in terms of power.

Monks are "mandatory" because it is the only role that can heal/protect, the reason why I SUSPECT (in order words I'm just guessing) that Anet did this, was to enforce teamwork, that way everyone is dependant on one another. If everyone could heal and protect themselves as well as a monk can in addition to their standard set of abilities, that would 1) Make monks useless 2) Change the dynamics of this game drastically and more in favor towards the individual rather than teamwork.

1 Hammer warrior, 10 seconds, dead monk. Next.
1 Mesmer, useless monk. Next.
1 Air spiker + 1 of anything that does mediocre damage. Overkill. Next.
1 Interrupt Ranger, useless monk. Next.
Hey if you get to make random and unsupported generalizations, I can too! Except, I've actually seen/done what I've just said before.

I read tho almost all the posts in this thread and Im afraid if you look at them as a whole the problem is people that act like idiots in PUGs.
From all sides its abuse and stupidity that starts all the x-hate.
The number of times ive seen abuse amongst players for almost no reason.
And monks are normally involved those arguments. Why? because of the function they perform in a party.
I no longer play in PUGs, I either party with guildies or henchies.
I Cannot stand the number of abusive idiots in the game.
If I could easily form a party of mature players that wont get abusive because someone makes a mistake or is new to the game. Now That would be a perfect GW.

Im currently searching the Guild Wars Forum for exactly these reasons. I have only been playing Guild Wars for a couple of months, having come here from the MMORPG Shadowbane.
Im really not all that eloquent so forgive me if I sound like Im three, but I really want to hate on monks in PvP and Im curious as to find out if there are any effective builds to counter them, specifically in the random arena if I may be so choosey.
Melee doesnt seem to work all that well...

And I've had trouble interupting them as well, as most spells monks seem to be using have fairly quick casting times. Once again I apologize for any ignorance I have displayed, Im really just looking for help.
Thank you.
